- The claw returns to a position offset from the prize chute after each play
- The claw drifts in one direction during joystick operation without input
- The claw overshoots or undershoots the player's intended position
- Players report the claw feeling "sticky" or "jumping" during movement
- The claw does not reach the far edges of the prize field

- Inspect limit switches — manually trigger each switch and confirm it registers in the board diagnostics
- Recalibrate home position — enter operator menu → calibration → set home position with claw centered above chute
- Run test plays — verify claw returns correctly to home after 5–10 consecutive plays
- Replace worn parts — if drift persists, replace belt, bearing, or motor as indicated
